Chapter 31-27 of the General Laws entitled "Motor Vehicle Offenses" is 1 hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2 31-27-26. Prompt violation payment. 3 Any motorist who receives a moving violation, which may be paid without a court 4 appearance, and who pays the fine in full within thirty (30) days of its issuance, shall not have the 5 violation recorded on the motorist's division of motor vehicle's driving record; provided, however, 6 that this procedure may not be utilized more than twice a year. 7 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 8 ======== LC000653 ======== LC000653 - Page 2 of 2 EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF A N A C T RELATING TO MOTOR AN D OTHER VEHICLES -- MOTOR VEHICLE OFFENS ES *** This act would prohibit the division of motor vehicles from recording a moving violation 1 on a motorist's driving record, if the moving violation is one that can be paid by mail and is paid, 2 in full, by the motorist within thirty (30) days of its issuance; provided that, this procedure cannot 3 be utilized more than twice in one year. 4 This act would take effect upon passage. 5 ======== LC000653 ========
