RELATING TO COURTS AND CIVIL PROCEDURE -- PROCEDURE GENERALLY -- FEES

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 9-29-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 9-29 entitled "Fees" is hereby 1
amended to read as follows: 2
9-29-5. Jurors’ fees. 3
(a) All grand and petit jurors shall be paid for each day’s attendance on the superior court 4
twenty-five dollars ($25.00) fifty dollars ($50.00) per day commencing July 1, 2022 2025, and 5
thereafter. The general assembly shall annually appropriate such sum as it may deem necessary to 6
carry out the purposes of this section. 7
(b) Any grand or petit juror may, upon signing a form approved by the presiding justice of 8
the superior court, donate their jury fee to the state. Any such donation shall be deposited into the 9
general fund and shall be allocated to the Rhode Island Veterans Home Community Living Center. 10
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 11
