| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 46-15 of the General Laws entitled "Water Resources Management" 1 |

| 24 | 24 | | is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2 |

| 25 | 25 | | 46-15-24. Public water system's obligations -- Municipal water supply entities. 3 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | The commissioners of any municipal water supply entity, defined as any entity created by 4 |

| 27 | 27 | | a general or specific act of the general assembly, that is authorized to plan, construct, operate, 5 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | maintain, extend and/or improve a water supply for a city or town or any part or parts thereof, 6 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | specifically including the New Shoreham Water district, governed by its board of water 7 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | commissioners, and the town of Jamestown, governed by its board of water and sewer 8 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | commissioners, may specifically limit its public water system's obligation to supply water only to 9 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | those applicants who reside within its designated and described service area as opposed to the entire 10 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | land area of the municipality in which the municipal water supply entity exists. 11 |
