PROCLAIMING THE MONT H OF APRIL, 2025, TO BE "COMMUNITY DEVELO PMENT 
MONTH" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

WHEREAS, The Housing Network of Rhode Island (HNRI) will celebrate the impact of 1 
Rhode Island's Community Development Corporations and nonprofit developers throughout 2 
Rhode Island; and 3 
WHEREAS, HNRI members are a vital part of Rhode Island's housing development 4 
sector and are at the forefront of efforts to expand equitable housing and economic opportunities 5 
for low- and moderate-income Rhode Islanders; and 6 
WHEREAS, In addition to producing safe and affordable homes from Westerly to 7 
Woonsocket, HNRI's members are actively engaged within the communities they serve. They 8 
maintain and support community-centered child care facilities and commercial spaces, 9 
community gardens and start-up food enterprises; provide job training opportunities, homebuyer 10 
education and foreclosure counseling, landlord education and home repair funds; and offer 11 
personal small business micro-loans or grants; and 12 
WHEREAS, Community Development Month is an opportunity to celebrate these 13 
organizations and the transformational work they do to make Rhode Island a better place; now, 14 
therefore be it 15 
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 16 
proclaims the Month of April, 2025, to be "Community Development Month" in the State of 17 
Rhode Island. This House recognizes and thanks these organizations for their tremendous 18 
contributions to the viability of the housing stock, infrastructure, public services, and the 19

economic well-being of the State of Rhode Island; and be it further 1 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 2 
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Melina Lodge, Executive Director of The 3 
Housing Network of Rhode Island. 4
