CONNORS Introduced By: Senator Ryan W. Pearson Date Introduced: January 28, 2025 Referred To: Recommended for Immediate Consideration WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Charlene 1 Connors, the cherished mother of former Rhode Island Senator, the Honorable Daniel Connors 2 and his wife, and our valued colleague, Meghan Connors, and Michael Connors and his wife, 3 Michele. In addition, she was blessed with five grandchildren, Lily, Charlotte, Tatum, McKenna, 4 and Mikey, Jr.; and 5 WHEREAS, Born and raised in the City of Pawtucket, Mrs. Connors was the daughter of 6 the late Charles and Isabelle Rainey, and the sister of Nancy Salisbury, Barbara Kiernan, and the 7 late Lois Jackson. She was also the beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews, and was a 8 longtime resident of the Town of Cumberland; and 9 WHEREAS, Mrs. Connors received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode 10 Island, and her Master’s degree from Providence College. She had been employed as an 11 elementary school teacher for the Cumberland School Department for thirty-three years until her 12 retirement in 2004. Upon retiring, she received her Master of Divinity graduate-level degree from 13 Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; and 14 WHEREAS, A woman of unwavering faith and devotion to God, Mrs. Connors inspired 15 all around her. She taught Bible studies with a group of her friends, and also enjoyed spending 16 time outdoors, taking daily walks, and always foremost in her heart, spending time with her 17 family; and 18 WHEREAS, Mrs. Connors was lovingly described by her many friends as a woman who 19 LC000350 - Page 2 of 2 inspired all who knew her, and as a woman who set an example of living fully and trusting that 1 God’s goodness would always remain a guiding light; and 2 WHEREAS, A quiet, soft-spoken, and incredibly kind and patient woman, Charlene 3 Connors leaves a legacy of unwavering determination and joy, and she is dearly missed by all 4 who shared her glorious and inspirational life; now, therefore be it 5 RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses deepest 6 sympathy to the family of Charlene C. Connors; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 8 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Daniel P.
