| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 16-45 of the General Laws entitled "Regional Vocational Schools 1 |

| 23 | 23 | | [See Title 16 Chapter 97 — The Rhode Island Board of Education Act]" is hereby amended by 2 |

| 24 | 24 | | adding thereto the following section: 3 |

| 25 | 25 | | 16-45-12. Inter-district communication and accounting between sending or home 4 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | districts and receiving districts for CTE and pathways education programs. 5 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (a) Effective July 1, 2025, for any student enrolled in, accepted to, or attending a state 6 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | career and technical education (“CTE”) board-approved program of choice or a pathways education 7 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | program, outside of the student's home district: 8 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (1) Any school district or regional vocational school that receives a student from outside 9 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of their district to provide and attend a career and technical education program of choice or a 10 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | pathways education program ( the “receiving district”), shall report back to the home district, 11 |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | sometimes referred to in this chapter as the “sending district,” regarding the student’s status, on a 12 |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | quarterly basis, or when a significant change in circumstances has occurred, including when a 13 |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | student is no longer participating or matriculating in the CTE or pathways education program; 14 |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (2) In instances when the receiving district’s costs to provide those education services are 15 |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | lower than the per pupil expenditure of the home district, the amount that the student’s home district 16 |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | shall be responsible for shall be limited to that lower cost of the receiving district; and 17 |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | (3) In regard to transportation costs, the student’s home district shall be required to pay 18 |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | only the actual cost of transportation of the student to the receiving district, notwithstanding any 19 |
