Title 42 of the General Laws entitled "STATE AFFAIRS AND 1 GOVERNMENT" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following chapter: 2 CHAPTER 167 3 STATE-OWNED AND OPERATED PRINTING FACILITIES PREFERENCE ACT 4 42-167-1. Short title. 5 This chapter shall be known and may be cited as “State-Owned and Operated Printing 6 Facilities Preference”. 7 42-167-2. Use of state-owned/operated printing facilities. 8 Any state agency, state institution of higher education, and quasi-public agency which 9 engages in the printing of more than fifty (50) copies of a contract, publication, brochure, mail 10 piece, notice, and/or promotional material shall use an existing state-owned/operated print 11 shop/facility as long as said state-owned/operated print shop/facility is capable of processing and 12 manufacturing the aforementioned materials. 13 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 14 ======== LC002325 ======== LC002325 - Page 2 of 2 EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF A N A C T RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- STATE-OWNED AND OPERATED PRINTING FACILITIES PREFERENCE ACT *** This act would require, that any state agency, state institution of higher education, and 1 quasi-public agency that engages in printing more than fifty (50) copies of a contract, publication, 2 brochure, notice, or promotional material, to use a state-owned or operated print shop capable of 3 processing the material. 4 This act would take effect upon passage. 5 ======== LC002325 ========
