RELATING TO WATERS AND NAVIGATION -- WATER RESOURCES MANA GEMENT --

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 46-15 of the General Laws entitled "Water Resources Management" 1
is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
46-15-24. Public water system's obligations -- Municipal water supply entities. 3
The commissioners of any municipal water supply entity, defined as any entity created by 4
a general or specific act of the general assembly, that is authorized to plan, construct, operate, 5
maintain, extend and/or improve a water supply for a city or town or any part or parts thereof, 6
specifically including the New Shoreham Water district, governed by its board of water 7
commissioners, and the town of Jamestown, governed by its board of water and sewer 8
commissioners, may specifically limit its public water system's obligation to supply water only to 9
those applicants who reside within its designated and described service area as opposed to the entire 10
land area of the municipality in which the municipal water supply entity exists. 11
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 12

This act would provide that municipal water supply entities, including New Shoreham and 1
Jamestown, be required to provide water service to only its designated service areas. 2
This act would take effect upon passage. 3
