99 A concurrent RESOLUTION memorializing the United States Congress to enact legislation imposing term limits for the Supreme Court of the United States and commending the Court for imposing an ethical Justices' Code of Conduct. Whereas, in recent years, citizens - along with elected officials - have increasingly supported term limitations for the Supreme Court of the United States due to a lack of nonpartisan trust in the institution; and Whereas, many issues surrounding the polarization of the appointment process could be resolved through the implementation of term limits; and Whereas, imposing term limits would restore trust in the institution and decrease politicization of the Supreme Court; and Whereas, the members of the General Assembly express gratitude to the Supreme Court for imposing an ethical Justices' Code of Conduct for themselves to adhere to. This code, comprised of five ethical cannons, will guide the justices in the performance of their duties. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring: That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, memorialize the United States Congress to enact legislation imposing term limits for the Supreme Court of the United States, and commend the Court for imposing an ethical Justices' Code of Conduct. ----XX---
