99 A house RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE THE BLUE RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL AIR FORCE JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS ON ITS FINE RECORD OF ACHIEVEMENTS AND TO COMMEND THE UNIT ON THE HIGH STANDARDS THAT HAVE MADE IT THE OUTSTANDING UNIT IT IS. Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to recognize and commend the Blue Ridge High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) on its enviable reputation as a stellar unit; and Whereas, based in Greer, South Carolina, the Air Force Junior ROTC at Blue Ridge High School most recently received several awards in the Byrnes High School Rebel Storm Drill Meet, held November 2, 2024. Unit honors included Individual Drill, first place; Overall, second place; Inspection, second place; Color Guard, second place; Flight Unarmed, second place; Flight Armed, second place; Element Armed, third place; and Element Unarmed, third place; and Whereas, further on November 16, 2024, the unit participated in the J.L. Mann High School Drill Meet and took home first place in Unarmed Duet Exhibition, first place in Armed Platoon Inspection Regulation, second place in Armed Duet Exhibition, and second place in Unarmed Platoon Inspection Regulation; and Whereas, over the years, the Blue Ridge High School Air Force Junior ROTC also has received the Distinguished Unit Award (DUA) during multiple school years, including 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2020 with Merit. The Distinguished Unit Award is given to Air Force Junior ROTC units that perform above expectations; and Whereas, in addition to its numerous DUA honors, the Air Force Junior ROTC program at Blue Ridge High School received the Outstanding Organization Award in 2012; and Whereas, the program's worthy goal is to develop citizens who are dedicated to serving the community and our great nation; and Whereas, with much admiration, the House salutes the hard work and excellence of the Blue Ridge High School Air Force Junior ROTC and looks to hear of further impressive accomplishments in the years ahead. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Blue Ridge High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps on its fine record of achievements and commend the unit on the high standards that have made it the outstanding unit it is. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Ashley Wardlaw, Lieutenant Colonel Ryan McCrae, and Master Sergeant Russell Routon of Blue Ridge High School. ----XX----
