| 9 | 9 | | A house RESOLUTION TO CELEBRATE THE POWDERSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY VOLLEYBALL TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A SUPERB SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THE LADY PATRIOTS ON NETTING THE 2024 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. Whereas, with precision and persistence, the Powdersville High School varsity volleyball team proved its mettle and earned gold at the 2024 Class AAA state competition, held at Dreher High School in Columbia on Saturday, November 16, 2024; and Whereas, the Lady Patriots dominated from start to finish against competitor Oceanside, rolling to a 25-14, 25-18, 25-21 victory. Patriot junior libero Alyssa Whiteside had a history-making night, eclipsing over 1,000 career digs in the most important match of the season. Sophomore Peyton Carman, a 5-foot-6-inch outside hitter, sparked Powdersville with six kills in the opening set; and Whereas, finishing the year 33-4, Powdersville collected its fourth state title, its first since a threepeat state victory in 2020; and Whereas, thanks to the first-class leadership of Head Coach Brooke Passini, Assistant Coach Samantha Bailey, and Assistant Coach Reagan Davis, the talented athletes of the Powdersville varsity volleyball team showed out like the champions they are; and Whereas, proud of the fine achievements of these young athletes, the House takes great pleasure in applauding the Powdersville High School varsity volleyball team and in extending best wishes for much continued success in the days ahead. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Powdersville High School varsity volleyball team, coaches, and school officials for a superb season and congratulate the Lady Patriots on netting the 2024 Class AAA State Championship title. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Adam Lanford, principal, and Head Coach Brooke Passini of Powdersville High School. ----XX---- |
