99 A house RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF Ora Leigh Beaty Elvis OF Horry COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS. Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Ora Leigh Beaty Elvis of Conway at the age of eighty-eight on Saturday, March 8, 2025; and Whereas, born in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Ernest James and Marguerite Vaught Beaty; and Whereas, together with her beloved husband of sixty-two years, the late Reverend Earl B. Elvis, she reared four fine children: Kevin E. Elvis of Salem, Kendall D. Elvis, Kimberly S. Elvis of Conway, and Kayla Elvis Thompson of Little River; and Whereas, Mrs. Elvis' children blessed her with the affection of fifteen grandchildren: Trenton Elvis, Joshua Elvis, Charles Bartley, Brandon Elvis, McCall Schools, Bryson Elvis, Brooke Cox, Lynsay Chandley, Jennifer Anderson, Chase Thompson, McClure Thompson, Chelsey Garrett, Ashley Crews, Jarrod Crews, and Myka Lee. She had the joy of seeing her loving family legacy continue in twenty-four great-grandchildren; and Whereas, a devoted wife, Mrs. Elvis had the honor of serving alongside her husband in his ministry for over forty-five years. She was a faithful member of the Conway Church of God and a member of the Young at Heart class; and Whereas, she was employed by AVX for over forty years and was a member of Horry Electric Co-op's WIRE program. After her retirement, she had the pleasure of sharing her love for baking alongside her son Kendall, who owned the Trestle Bakery at that time. Her passion to serve others was then carried out every morning serving coffee, a smile, and a kind word at the LaQuinta Inn in Myrtle Beach. She later brought joy to the Chick-fil-A of Conway, where she served sweet tea or lemonade to many in the community; and Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Ora Leigh Elvis and for the example of faithfulness and kindness she set for all who knew her. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Ora Leigh Beaty Elvis of Horry County and extend their deepest sympathy to her large and loving family and her many friends. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ora Leigh Beaty Elvis. ----XX----
