99 A house RESOLUTION to recognize and honor Dr. Dexter Easley, pastor and founder of New Life Christian Fellowship Church, and to express the deep appreciation of the South Carolina House of Representatives for his outstanding contributions to the Berkeley County community and beyond. Whereas, Dr. Easley is the pastor and founder of New Life Christian Fellowship Church, a thriving church in the heart of Goose Creek, with deep ties to the community. He considers it a privilege for the congregation to provide assistance to members of the community in whatever way is needed. For example, an advocate and partner with the VITA (Voluntary Income Tax Assistance) program, the church has been a host site for over three years assisting families with completing their yearly tax returns free of charge; and Whereas, Dr. Easley is the director of New Life Christian Academy, an elite academic institution established to educate young minds with an emphasis on the Word of God. Under his leadership, New Life spearheaded TASC (Teen After School Center) offering counseling, training, and character-building instruction, as well as academic assistance and anger management strategies to participants; and Whereas, under Dr. Easley's direction, the benevolence program at New Life Christian Fellowship has assisted over a thousand families and is listed with UNICEF as a location for assistance. In addition, the church ministers to those incarcerated through a thriving prison ministry that provides reading material; and Whereas, Dr. Easley took part in the community arbitration for the 9th Circuit, which assisted over one hundred thirty teenagers. He also served as police chaplain in the City of Goose Creek and initiated an award ceremony to recognize the men and women of the Goose Creek Police Department for their outstanding service to the community; and Whereas, he offers the use of church facilities as a safe, secure community meeting location for Girl Scout Troop #263, Cub Scout Pack #458, Boy Scout Troop #737, and a community homeowners association (HOA), and the church serves as a convenient voting and polling location; and Whereas, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, Dr. Easley made provision for the elderly to receive COVID vaccinations and conducted virtual town hall meetings to keep the community informed of factual public health information; and Whereas, over the years, Dr. Easley has overseen numerous outreach projects in Goose Creek, providing meals for the Goose Creek High School varsity and junior varsity football teams, hosting community baby showers in partnership with Helping Hands and Molina Health Care, offering free health screenings and blood drives as well as back-to-school events for clothing, school supplies and haircuts, and partnering with Toys for Tots and the Department of Social Services to provide Christmas gifts for foster-care children; and Whereas, through New Life Ministerial Alliance, Dr. Easley mentors other pastors and conducts leadership classes, focusing on upholding family values based upon Scripture. He established DEM (Dexter Easley Ministries), an outreach that broadcasts Christian listening material free of charge. He advocates for the success of local business owners through the development of the New Life Christian Fellowship Business Chamber of Commerce; and Whereas, with over twenty-nine years in ministry, he conducts crusades to ministries in Kenya, Burkina Faso, and West Africa and has established a church in Hyderabad, India. Dr. Easley is a celebrated author of over ten books, and his work was honored with the Southeast Regional Avidity Award; and Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in commending citizens like Dexter Easley for their energetic and dedicated contribution to the community. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Dr. Dexter Easley, pastor and founder of New Life Christian Fellowship Church, and to express the deep appreciation of the South Carolina House of Representatives for his outstanding contributions to the Berkeley County community and beyond.
