                 A house RESOLUTION   TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JOSHUA WILLIAMS OF FLORENCE, 66TH EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT OF THE CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO HIS UNIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY AND HIS CONSISTENTLY EXEMPLARY SCHOLARSHIP.   Whereas, Joshua Williams of Florence is a third-year marketing major with a minor in business management. As an ambitious, dynamic young professional, he excels in both academics and leadership roles and is highly respected by fellow students and faculty alike; and   Whereas, a dedicated scholar, Joshua is a member of the Alice Carson Tisdale Honors College and is a Strada Scholar with an impressive 3.7 GPA. While academic excellence is a priority, he is equally engaged in extracurricular activities, demonstrating a well-rounded commitment to student life; and   Whereas, Joshua proudly serves as the 66th Student Government Association executive president for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. His leadership journey includes prior roles on the Claflin University Royal Court as Mister Freshman and Mister Orange and Maroon. In recognition of his impact, he was selected by the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals to receive the organization's coveted Outstanding Student Leader Award for 2025; and   Whereas, passionate about community engagement, Joshua actively contributes to outreach initiatives, understanding their vital role in building strong, meaningful connections. Currently, he serves with AmeriCorps VISTA in the Office of Academic Success and Student Retention, where he supports student success initiatives. His dedication to service is evident in the 200+ community service hours he has completed since his freshman year; and   Whereas, with a natural ability to lead, inspire, and uplift those around him, Joshua is known for his resilience, determination, and unwavering faith. He lives by the belief that "a bright light always attracts bugs, so keep shining despite the presence of affliction, for no man can cancel what God has approved." Guided by purpose and driven by excellence, he remains committed to making a lasting impact on every endeavor he pursues; and   Whereas, moreover, by the grace of God he has reached this high level of achievement despite his physical adversities; indeed, he has overcome them, has persevered in reaching his goals, and continues to serve with distinction. Now, therefore,   Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:   That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Joshua Williams of Florence, 66th executive president of the Claflin University Student Government Association, for his outstanding service to his university and community and his consistently exemplary scholarship.
