                 A house RESOLUTION   TO CONGRATULATE Candice Herlong Pou of the south carolina audit council UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HER FOR forty-four YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER MUCH CONTINUED SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS TO COME.   Whereas, Candice ("Candy") Herlong Pou has served the South Carolina Legislative Audit Council with dedication and distinction for forty-four years, her contributions having significantly enhanced the work of the agency; and   Whereas, born the daughter of Joe Patrick Herlong and Elizabeth Ann Hatchett, Candy is a native of Saluda County; and   Whereas, in 1981, Candy began her state government career when she took up her duties with the South Carolina Legislative Audit Council; and   Whereas, over the course of her career at Legislative Audit Council, Candy has worked under the leadership of all four of the agency's directors: the late George L. Schroeder; the late Thomas J. Bardin Jr.; Perry Simpson; and K. Earle Powell, the agency's current director; and   Whereas, Candy's work with information technology systems at the South Carolina Legislative Audit Council has been invaluable, spanning, as it does, a time preceding the advent of the World Wide Web in 1989 and running through the current age of artificial intelligence; and   Whereas, Candy has been instrumental in the design, processing, and publication of more than two hundred sixty audit reports and has been integral to the agency's network management and maintenance; and   Whereas, to perform her daily duties for the agency over the past forty-four years, Candy has traveled more than 1,062,000 miles between Saluda County and Columbia; and   Whereas, the South Carolina House, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and excellence Candy Pou has bestowed on the people of this great State, takes great pleasure in wishing her well as she enters retirement and trusts she will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,   Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:   That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Candice Herlong Pou of the South Carolina Audit Council upon the occasion of her retirement, commend her for forty-four years of dedicated service, and wish her much continued success and fulfillment in the years to come.
