99 A house RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE THE LAURENCE MANNING ACADEMY SOFTBALL TEAM ON ITS STELLAR SEASON AND TO SALUTE ITS MEMBERS FOR CAPTURING THE 2024 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Whereas, out to win gold, the Laurence Manning Academy (LMA) softball team played with great determination and spirit in the 2024 South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Class 4A State Championship series, held on May 14, 2024; and Whereas, after battling for the state title for the past two seasons but coming up a little short, the Lady Swampcats and their coaches were determined to make this season one for the record books. With "We, not me" as the team's motto for the season, the LMA players set a goal to work together as one and not stop until they had attained what every high school athlete dreams of: a state championship, earned with outstanding sportsmanship and class; and Whereas, with a season record of eighteen wins and only four losses, the Lady Swampcats outscored their opponents 191 runs to 42 - an enviable position to be in on the road to a state championship; and Whereas, at the 2024 state tournament, Laurence Manning and Hammond would battle it out in a best-two-out-of-three series to determine who would capture the title, the glory, and the hardware that only champions get to take home. After defeating the Skyhawks in game one, the Lady Swampcats were one game away from making their dream of a state title a reality. On May 14, to the cheers of their jubilant fans, the Laurence Manning players defeated Hammond on LMA's home field and brought the SCISA 4A state softball title back to the Swamp; and Whereas, throughout the season, LMA Head Coach Buddy Truett, ably assisted by Assistant Coach Amy Marshall and Assistant Coach Lisa Ard, drew on his own considerable talents and skills in molding his team members into champions. He saw the fruit of his labors at the state championship as he proudly watched his players hoist the title trophy high; and Whereas, the journey to winning the state title required discipline, dedication, and teamwork, qualities that always will serve these young women well, both on and off the field. With admiration, the House recognizes and applauds the fine work of the Laurence Manning Academy softball team and wishes its members much continued success in all their future endeavors. Go, Lady Swampcats! Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Laurence Manning Academy softball team on its stellar season and salute its members for capturing the 2024 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 4A State Championship.
