A house RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE TIDELANDS HEALTH ON THE OCCASION OF ITS SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO EXPRESS THE GRATEFUL THANKS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FOR TIDELANDS' MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO GEORGETOWN COUNTY AND BEYOND. Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that 2025 is an important milestone in the distinguished history of Tidelands Health: The present quarter-century year marks the not-for-profit organization's seventy-fifth year of dedicated service; and Whereas, Tidelands Health accepted its first patient on May 11, 1950, in Georgetown and has grown since that time to become the largest healthcare provider for Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg counties, with four hospitals and more than seventy outpatient medical offices; and Whereas, the health system's success has been possible because of the vision and dedication of many organizations and individuals, including current and past board members, leaders, employees, physician and volunteer partners, and many others; and Whereas, Tidelands Health continues to transform health and wellness across the region, bringing new technologies, new facilities, new services, and new providers as part of its long-standing commitment to better health, better lives, and a better community; and Whereas, the organization is a critical part of the region's safety net, providing care to people regardless of their ability to pay and serving as a backbone of the community's response to emergencies and major disasters such as hurricanes; and Whereas, as one of the Grand Strand's largest private employers, Tidelands Health is a major economic force, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact annually and supporting thousands of family-sustaining jobs directly and indirectly through the goods and services purchased from local businesses; and Whereas, as a not-for-profit organization, Tidelands Health reinvests its income from operations in people, technologies, and facilities to meet the region's healthcare needs; and Whereas, now more than ever, there is a growing need for high-quality health and wellness services along the Grand Strand and in South Carolina. As is consistent with its long legacy of service, Tidelands Health is leading efforts to meet that need. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Tidelands Health on the occasion of its seventy-fifth anniversary and express the grateful thanks of the South Carolina House of Representatives for Tidelands' many years of outstanding service to Georgetown County and beyond. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Tidelands Health. ----XX----
