99 A house RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Heathwood Hall Episcopal School boys track and field TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2025 SOUTH CAROLINA Independent School Association Division 1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Heathwood Hall boys track and field team of Richland County captured the South Carolina Independent School Association Division 1 State Championship title at the state meet held at Ben Lippen in Columbia on May 5, 2025; and Whereas, to the delight of their exuberant fans, the Heathwood Highlanders defeated a fine, competitive field of teams with a score of 129, defeating their nearest opponent, Porter-Gaud, by forty points; and Whereas, the state meet, which began on Saturday, was interrupted due to a weather delay, and was completed on Monday with the Highlanders winning the championship; and Whereas, Highlander Jack Wilcox won the 800m and 1,600m and came in second in the 3,200m. Teammate Edgar Jackson was second in the shot put, and Onis Konanbanny took second place in long jump. The Heathwood 4x400 relay team came in second; and Whereas, in a sport that requires strength, speed and stamina, Head Coach Tony Brown and his skilled coaching staff capitalized on their own athletic experience and training to produce a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the track and field; and Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the pride and recognition that the Heathwood boys track and field team have brought to their school and their community, and the members look forward to following their future success in the days ahead. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Heathwood Hall Episcopal School boys track and field team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2025 South Carolina Independent School Association Division 1 State Championship title. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of Upper School George Scouten and Coach Tony Brown. ----XX----
