99 A senate RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE A. Foster McKissick III FOR being nominated for the 2025 TIME Dealer of the Year award. Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to learn that A. Foster McKissick III has been nominated for the 2025 TIME Dealer of the Year Award by TIME magazine; and Whereas, the TIME Dealer of the Year award is one of the automobile industry's most prestigious and highly-coveted honors. The award recognizes the nation's most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service; and Whereas, Mr. McKissick is the CEO of Fairway Automotive Group, a Ford, Lincoln, and Subaru dealership in Greenville. He was chosen to represent the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association in the national competition, one of only forty-nine auto dealers nominated for the fifty-sixth annual award from more than twenty thousand dealers nationwide; and Whereas, a 1978 graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, where he earned a degree in business, Mr. McKissick always knew he wanted to follow the path of his father, Foster II, and work at the Ford dealership his dad founded in 1966. Today, he owns and runs Fairway Automotive Group with his son, Foster IV, who is the next generation to carry on his family's legacy; and Whereas, a longtime member of the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association, Mr. McKissick has served on the group's board for twenty-eight years, serving as board president for one year, DEAC chairman for seven years, and NADA director for six years; and Whereas, an active member of his community, Mr. McKissick supports many nonprofits and charities that make an impact in Greenville, including Make-A-Wish South Carolina, Meals on Wheels of Greenville, the Greenville Humane Society, United Way of Greenville County, Harvest Hope food bank, and many others; and Whereas, a civic leader, Mr. McKissick serves on the board of Upstate Warrior Solution, an organization that provides support to local veterans and their families. He also serves as a board member for The Citadel Foundation. During his time on the board, he has spearheaded an initiative that awards an annual scholarship to a distinguished student athlete from the State of South Carolina who would otherwise be unable to afford tuition; and Whereas, Mr. McKissick has also taken leadership positions with other groups, including the Upstate South Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross, Coaches for Character, and a Law Enforcement Advisory Committee affiliated with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources; and Whereas, the Senate is grateful for Mr. McKissick's dedicated service to the people and the State of South Carolina and takes great pleasure in saluting him for being nominated for the prestigious 2025 TIME Dealer of the Year award. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the Senate: That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate A. Foster McKissick III for being nominated for the 2025 TIME Dealer of the Year Award. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to A. Foster McKissick III. ----XX----
