99 A senate RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR AFL for being a manufacturing company that brings great pride to the state of south carolina. Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize AFL for its contribution to the manufacturing landscape of South Carolina; and Whereas, AFL was founded on November 2, 1984. The manufacturer is headquartered in Duncan; and Whereas, AFL manufactures Ultra HD MicroCore SpiderWeb Ribbon (SWR) Fiber Optic Cable, a high-performance product designed for high-density fiber deployments that enables seamless connectivity for major global events, businesses, and consumers alike; and Whereas, AFL's highly-skilled workforce, consisting of one thousand five hundred associates across seven facilities in Spartanburg County, plays a critical role in the company's success, producing industry-leading fiber optic cables that connect people and businesses across the world; and Whereas, in 2024, AFL celebrated its fortieth year of manufacturing excellence and announced a one hundred fifty-five million-dollar investment to expand its South Carolina manufacturing operations, further strengthening the State's position as a leader in advanced manufacturing; and Whereas, in the past year alone, AFL produced enough Ultra HD MicroCore Fiber Optic Cable with SWR technology that, if connected end-to-end, the cable would stretch from Duncan to Tokyo, Japan; and Whereas, AFL is a strong corporate citizen, giving back to the community through extensive philanthropic efforts, including volunteer initiatives, scholarship programs, community grants, and disaster recovery support. In 2024, AFL further solidified its commitment to being a good corporate citizen by establishing a dedicated foundation with an initial ten million-dollar investment to enhance its impact for future generations; and Whereas, there are more than six thousand manufacturing facilities in South Carolina, all producing world-class products. AFL was nominated and advanced to the Top Four round in the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance's 2025 Manufacturing Madness: The Coolest Thing Made in SC contest, standing out among over one hundred and fifty nominated products; and Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that AFL has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the Senate: That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor AFL for being a manufacturing company that brings great pride to the State of South Carolina. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the president and CEO of AFL, Jaxon Lang, and the AFL leadership team. ----XX----
