99 A senate RESOLUTION TO congratulate THE WALHALLA HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and to honor them FOR winning THE 2025 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Walhalla High School girls basketball team for winning the 2025 Class AAA State Championship on March 6, 2025, at the Florence Civic Center; and Whereas, this momentous win marks the first Walhalla High School girls basketball state championship title in program history; and Whereas, with a notable season overall, the Lady Razorbacks exited the championship with a 24-3 overall season record; and Whereas, in the championship game, the Walhalla team defeated Dillon High School with a score of 52-37. The Lady Razorbacks were led by junior forward Miley White, who scored team highs in both points (fourteen) and rebounds (thirteen). Senior guard Annie Campbell added thirteen points; junior guard Kami Roach had ten points, nine rebounds, and seven steals; and senior forward G.G. Ortiz added nine points and eleven rebounds; and Whereas, before the March 6 championship win, no Walhalla team in any sport had brought home a state championship trophy since 1952; and Whereas, Kami Roach was named Class AAA Player of the Year and earned the title of All-State for the third time, and G.G. Ortiz finished as an All-State honoree and North-South All-Star; and Whereas, the Walhalla High School girls basketball team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Head Coach Byron Wimphrie; and Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Walhalla High School girls basketball team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the Senate: That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, celebrate the Walhalla High School girls basketball team for winning the 2025 Class AAA State Championship title and congratulate the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff on a superb season. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Walhalla High School girls basketball team members, Head Coach Byron Wimphrie, and Principal Jennifer Crawford. ----XX----
