11-ENTITLED An Act to allow a student to wear certain military decorations at a school
12-graduation ceremony and to declare an emergency.
13-BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA:
14-Section 1. That a NEW SECTION be added to chapter 13-1:
15-A student who is enrolled in a school district and has enlisted in the South Dakota
16-National Guard or in a branch of the armed forces, as defined in § 36-1-2, may wear a
17-sash, stole, or other military decoration at a school graduation ceremony, if the sash,
18-stole, or decoration was issued to the student by the South Dakota National Guard or a
19-branch of the armed forces, for the purposes of being worn at the graduation ceremony.
20-Section 2. Whereas, this Act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
21-health, or safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Act shall be in full force
