A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Recognizing Madison High School wrestling coach
Chris Waba for his historic three hundredth dual win.
WHEREAS, Coach Waba is recognized as a perennial powerhouse wrestling coach; and
WHEREAS, Coach Waba has been coaching for forty years, beginning in 1986 as coach for
Madison Junior High School, and then as head coach for Madison High School since 1999; and
WHEREAS, having picked up his first dual win in 1999, Coach Waba led his team to a
historic three hundredth dual win on January 4, 2025, in a triangular with Dell Rapids and
Vermillion; and
WHEREAS, Coach Waba has guided eighty -two wrestlers to South Dakota state
tournaments between 1999 and 2024; and
WHEREAS, Coach Waba led six Madison wrestlers to become South Dakota state
champions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundredth Legislature of the State
of South Dakota, that Coach Chris Waba picked up his historic three hundredth dual win on
January 4, 2025.
