A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Recognizing the City of Mitchell as the 1
Governor's Office of Economic Development 2025 Community of the Year. 2
WHEREAS, the City of Mitchell was named the Community of the Year at the South Dakota 3
Governor’s Conference on Economic Development on February 26, 2025; and 4
WHEREAS, the award honors the city of Mitchell's ongoing commitment to economic 5
growth, community development, and enhancing the quality of life for residents; and 6
WHEREAS, Mitchell is home to major economic projects, like the High Plains Processing 7
plant, which will bring significant job opportunities and growth to the region; and 8
WHEREAS, Mitchell has invested in its workforce by creating an relocation incentive 9
program, which addresses housing and workforce needs and offers resources for individuals 10
willing to relocate to the city; 11
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundredth Legislature of the State 12
of South Dakota, that the City of Mitchell is the Governor's Office of Economic Development 13
2025 Community of the Year. 14
