An Act to make an appropriation for purchasing, storing, and distributing sexual 1
assault kits. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA: 3
Section 1. There is appropriated $180,000 from the general fund, to the Department of 4
Health, for purchasing, storing, and distributing to health care facilities sexual assault kits, as 5
defined in ยง 23-5C-1. 6
Section 2. The secretary of the Department of Health shall approve vouchers and the state 7
auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized in this Act. 8
Section 3. Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated by June 9
30, 2028, shall revert in accordance with the procedures prescribed in chapter 4-8. 10
Section 4. This Act is effective beginning June 30, 2025. 11
