SUMMARY OF BILL: Extends the termination date of the Tennessee Monuments and
Memorials Commission to June 30, 2029. Under the Tennessee Governmental Entity Review Law, the
commission is scheduled to terminate on June 30, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• This legislation continues an existing entity at its current funding level.
• This commission was established by Public Chapter 434 of 2023, effective April 20, 2023;
however, the commission did not initially convene until after June 30, 2023; therefore, the
commission incurred no expenditures in FY22-23.
• According to the Department of Environment and Conservation, the commission’s
expenditures were $66 in FY23-24.
