SUMMARY OF BILL: Designates March 3 of every year to be observed as "Sister Sandra
Smithson Day," to honor the immeasurable impact Sister Smithson had on this state by bettering the
lives of children in need through the power of improved educational opportunities and the founding
of Nashville's first charter school.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• The proposed legislation establishes that this day is not a legal holiday as defined in Tenn.
Code Ann. § 15-1-101.
• There will be no impact to state and local governments; therefore, any fiscal impact is
estimated to be not significant.
