1312 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 64,
1413 Chapter 3 and Title 64, Chapter 4, relative to the
1514 economic impact of the cosmetology and
1615 barbering professions.

1817 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1918 SECTION 1.
2019 (a) The Tennessee advisory commission on intergovernmental relations (TACIR)
2120 shall study the economic impact that the cosmetology and barbering professions have in
2221 this state, including revenue generated through the services provided and the number of
2322 jobs generated by the professions.
2423 (b) TACIR may request information and input from the department of commerce
2524 and insurance and other appropriate state and local governmental entities, as
2625 necessary, and such entities shall comply with TACIR's request. The study must be
2726 conducted from TACIR's existing resources.
2827 (c) Upon completion of the study required by subsection (a), TACIR shall report
2928 its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the chair of the
3029 commerce and labor committee of the senate and the chair of the committee of the
3130 house of representatives having jurisdiction over cosmetology and barbering, and
3231 provide a copy of the report to the legislative librarian. The report may be delivered
3332 electronically.
3433 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
