17 | 17 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 1. | |
19 | 19 | (a) The Tennessee Higher Education Commission, in consultation with the | |
20 | 20 | Department of Labor and Workforce Development, shall study: | |
21 | 21 | (1) Each state-funded financial aid and scholarship program to determine | |
22 | 22 | whether the respective program may be expanded to provide greater financial aid | |
23 | 23 | opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing a workforce credential; and | |
24 | 24 | (2) The number and scope of each financial aid and scholarship program | |
25 | 25 | independently offered by employers or other private entities or organizations in | |
26 | 26 | this state to increase the number of individuals with a workforce credential. | |
27 | 27 | (b) The Commission shall report its findings and any legislative | |
28 | 28 | recommendations to the committee of the house of representatives having jurisdiction | |
29 | 29 | over higher education and to the education committee of the senate no later than | |
30 | 30 | January 15, 2026. | |
31 | 31 | SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. |
