SB 339 – HB 512

SUMMARY OF BILL: Increases, from five to six years, the term limits of historic zoning
commission members. Specifies that on the effective date of this act, members of any such
commission must serve out their current terms, which shall not be extended. As the terms expire,
requires the chief executive making appointments to fill vacancies on a commission to appoint
members to six-year terms.

FISCAL IMPACT:

NOT SIGNIFICANT

 Assumptions:

• Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 13-7-403(a)(1), all commission members shall serve without
compensation.
• The proposed legislation does not change the total number of members serving on the
commission.
• Extending the term limits of commission members will have no significant impact upon
local government expenditures.
