16 | 16 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 13-7-403(a)(1), is amended by | |
18 | 18 | deleting the following language: | |
19 | 19 | The terms of members of the historic zoning commission shall be five (5) years, | |
20 | 20 | except that the members appointed initially shall be appointed for staggered | |
21 | 21 | terms so that the terms of at least one (1) member but not more than two (2) | |
22 | 22 | members shall expire each year. | |
23 | 23 | and substituting instead: | |
24 | 24 | The terms of members of the historic zoning commission shall be six (6) years, | |
25 | 25 | except that the members appointed initially shall be appointed for staggered | |
26 | 26 | terms so that the terms of at least one (1) member but not more than two (2) | |
27 | 27 | members shall expire each year. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 2. Members of historic zoning commissions on the effective date of this act | |
29 | 29 | shall serve out the term for which they were elected, and their terms are not extended. As the | |
30 | 30 | terms expire, the chief executive making appointments to fill vacancies on the historic zoning | |
31 | 31 | commission shall appoint members to six-year terms. | |
32 | 32 | SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. |
