| 16 | 16 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 1. This act is known and may be cited as the "Law Enforcement's Safer |

| 18 | 18 | | Tennessee Electronic Registration (LESTER) Act". |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 55-4-138, is amended by deleting the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | following language: |

| 21 | 21 | | If a person displays the evidence in an electronic format pursuant to this section, the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | person is not consenting for law enforcement to access any other contents of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | electronic device. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and substituting instead the following: |

| 25 | 25 | | If a person displays the evidence in an electronic format pursuant to this section, then |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the evidence must be accepted by law enforcement as proof of registration, and such |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | display is not consent for law enforcement to access any other contents of the electronic |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | device. |

| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 55-10-312(a), is amended by |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | deleting the language "motor-propelled vehicle" and "motor propelled vehicle" wherever it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | appears and substituting instead the language "motor vehicle". |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 4. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
