| 17 | 17 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: |

| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, Chapter 3, Part 10, is amended by |

| 19 | 19 | | adding the following as a new section: |

| 20 | 20 | | (a) As used in this section, "gun violence" means homicide, violent crime, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | domestic violence. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (b) The department of finance and administration, office of criminal justice |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | programs, may use existing resources, if available, and seek appropriate funding and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | resources from the federal and state governments to design and implement grants to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | reduce gun violence in this state. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. |
