| 17 | 16 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: |

| 18 | 17 | | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 1, is amended by adding |

| 19 | 18 | | the following as a new section: |

| 20 | 19 | | (a) As used in this section, "unauthorized alien" means a person who is |

| 21 | 20 | | unlawfully present in the United States according to the terms of the federal Immigration |
|---|
| 22 | 21 | | and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. ยง 1101 et. seq., and must be interpreted consistently with |
|---|
| 23 | 22 | | any applicable federal statutes, rules, or regulations. |
|---|
| 24 | 23 | | (b) Notwithstanding another law to the contrary, an unauthorized alien does not |
|---|
| 25 | 24 | | have standing to commence or appear as a plaintiff in any civil action brought in this |
|---|
| 26 | 25 | | state. |
|---|
| 27 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. |
