1312 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 55,
1413 Chapter 4, Part 1, relative to registration and
1514 licensing of motor vehicles.

1716 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1817 SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 55-4-105, is amended by deleting
1918 subsection (c) and substituting:
2019 (c)
2120 (1) Each county clerk shall provide a mail order service for the renewal of
2221 registrations whereby registrants may apply for and receive the renewal
2322 certificates and plates or decals through the United States postal service. Except
2423 as otherwise required by law, an application for renewal by mail must be
2524 postmarked not later than twenty (20) days before the license expiration date to
2625 allow time for processing.
2726 (2) Each county clerk may impose a fee for service of handling mail
2827 orders of plates and decals. The fee for the service of handling mail orders of
2928 plates is seven dollars ($7.00), and the fee for the service of handling mail orders
3029 of decals is three dollars ($3.00).
3130 (3) Each county clerk is authorized to increase the fees provided in
3231 subdivision (c)(2) in an amount not to exceed any applicable United States postal
3332 service price increase in any given year.
3433 SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it.
