1312 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 36,
1413 Chapter 3, Part 6; Title 38 and Title 40, relative to
1514 orders of protection.

1716 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1817 SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 38, Chapter 8, Part 1, is amended by
1918 adding the following new section:
2019 (a) If a law enforcement officer becomes aware that an order of protection has
2120 been entered, pursuant to title 36, chapter 3, part 6, against a person in the officer's
2221 presence but the person has not been served with the order of protection, then the
2322 officer must take appropriate steps to facilitate service of the order of protection,
2423 including notifying the sheriff's department of the person's immediate location and any
2524 other information that may assist in service of the order of protection.
2625 (b) The curriculum requirements of the Tennessee peace officer standards and
2726 training commission established by this part must include instruction on the requirements
2827 of this section.
2928 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
