| 16 | 15 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: |

| 17 | 16 | | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-121-106, is amended by |

| 18 | 17 | | designating the existing language as subsection (a) and adding the following as a new |
|---|
| 19 | 18 | | subsection: |

| 20 | 19 | | (b) The chief elevator inspector shall conduct a final acceptance inspection upon |
|---|
| 21 | 20 | | completion of the installation, modification, or alteration of a private residence elevator |
|---|
| 22 | 21 | | before such elevator is placed in service. Upon completion of the final acceptance |
|---|
| 23 | 22 | | inspection of a private residence elevator, the homeowner shall register the private |
|---|
| 24 | 23 | | residence elevator with the department. Registration must be made on a form furnished |
|---|
| 25 | 24 | | by the department. The chief elevator inspector shall develop and maintain a database |
|---|
| 26 | 25 | | of private residence elevators. |

| 27 | 26 | | SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
