| 16 | 16 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-221(a)(1), is amended by |

| 18 | 18 | | deleting "LEA" and substituting "LEA and public charter school", deleting "school district" |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | wherever it appears and substituting "school district or public charter school", deleting "school |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | district's" wherever it appears and substituting "school district's or public charter school's", |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | adding "or public charter school's" after "LEA's", and adding the following as a new subdivision: |

| 22 | 22 | | (G) Prohibit the LEA or public charter school from tracking or monitoring a |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | person's use of the internet via a personal electronic device on school property, except |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | for instances in which a student uses a personal electronic device during a test. |

| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-221(b), is amended by adding |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | "or director of the public charter school" after "director of schools" and deleting "school district's" |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and substituting "LEA's or public charter school's". |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-221(c), is amended by deleting |

| 29 | 29 | | "LEA or" wherever it appears and substituting "LEA, public charter school, or" and deleting |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | "LEA's or" wherever it appears and substituting "LEA's, public charter school's, or". |

| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 4. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
