13	12		AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4;
14	13		Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 8 and Title 49, Chapter
15	14		7, relative to the "Dismantling DEI Departments

18	17		BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
19	18		SECTION 1. This act is known and may be cited as the "Dismantling DEI Departments
20	19		Act."
21	20		SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, Chapter 1, Part 4, is amended by
22	21		adding the following as a new section:
23	22		A department, agency, or other unit of state government shall not maintain or
24	23		authorize an office or department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in
25	24		an effort to increase diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs,
26	25		activities, guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other
27	26		declarations by such office or department are void.
28	27		SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 5, Chapter 1, Part 1, is amended by
29	28		adding the following as a new section:
30	29		A county government shall not maintain or authorize an office or department that
31	30		promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase diversity, equity,
32	31		or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations,
33	32		enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or department
34	33		are void.
35	34		SECTION 4. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 6, Chapter 54, Part 1, is amended by
36	35		adding the following as a new section:

41	40		A municipal government shall not maintain or authorize an office or department
42	41		that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase diversity,
43	42		equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations,
44	43		enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or department
45	44		are void.
46	45		SECTION 5. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 7, Chapter 3, Part 1, is amended by
47	46		adding the following as a new section:
48	47		A metropolitan government shall not maintain or authorize an office or
49	48		department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase
50	49		diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance,
51	50		regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or
52	51		department are void.
53	52		SECTION 6. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, Chapter 7, Part 1, is amended by
54	53		adding the following as a new section:
55	54		A public institution of higher education in this state shall not maintain or authorize
56	55		an office or department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort
57	56		to increase diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities,
58	57		guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by
59	58		such office or department are void.
60	59		SECTION 7. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
