1313 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49;
1414 Title 63; Title 67 and Title 68, relative to hygiene
1515 products for women and children.

1717 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1818 SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-417(a)(1), is amended by
1919 deleting "public high school" and substituting instead "public school, including a public charter
2020 school,".
2121 SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-417(a), is amended by adding
2222 the following as a new, appropriately designated subdivision:
2323 ( ) "Public charter school" has the same meaning as defined in ยง 49-13-104;
2424 SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-417(b), is amended by deleting
2525 "Each LEA is authorized to" and substituting instead "Each LEA and public charter school shall"
2626 and by inserting "regularly used by students in grades four through twelve (4-12)" immediately
2727 after "all women's and girl's bathrooms and locker rooms".
2828 SECTION 4. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-417, is amended by adding the
2929 following new subsections:
3030 (c) The state shall reimburse each LEA and public charter school that provides
3131 feminine hygiene products pursuant to this section in an amount equal to the cost of the
3232 products paid by the LEA or public charter school pursuant to this section.
3333 (d) The department of health shall collaborate with the state board of education,
3434 and other state agencies as the department deems appropriate, to create a public health
3535 campaign dedicated to encouraging individuals and nonprofit organizations to contribute
3636 or drop off feminine hygiene products to eligible schools.

4141 SECTION 5. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it, and
4242 applies to the 2025-2026 school year and each school year thereafter.
