17 | 16 | | WHEREAS, it is the goal of the General Assembly to assist our veterans in transitional |

18 | 17 | | efforts; we are proposing legislation that will give those veterans who are residents of this State |
---|
19 | 18 | | the opportunity to receive business licenses for free; and |
---|
20 | 19 | | WHEREAS, it is a fact that veterans receive various transferrable skills while in the |
---|
21 | 20 | | military as well as other technical and academic certifications and accreditation, and it benefits |
---|
22 | 21 | | the State and surrounding communities to support this legislation for economic and |
---|
23 | 22 | | entrepreneurial development; now, therefore, |
---|
24 | 23 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ST ATE OF TENNESSEE: |

25 | 24 | | SECTION 1. This act is known and may be cited as the "Ola Mae Ransom |
---|
26 | 25 | | Reintegration Act." |

27 | 26 | | SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 67-4-723, is amended by adding the |
---|
28 | 27 | | following as a new subsection: |
---|
29 | 28 | | (f) Notwithstanding subsections (a) and (b), a fee for a business license must not |
---|
30 | 29 | | be charged to any veteran of the United States military, including the national guard and |
---|
31 | 30 | | reserves. |
---|
32 | 31 | | SECTION 3. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
