A RESOLUTION to honor Police Chief Richard Catlett and the 
Pigeon Forge Police Department on winning the 
Excellence in Police Services Award. 
 
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing 
those police departments in this State that have, for many years, stood as bastions of law and 
order and beacons of dedicated service to the members of their communities; and 
WHEREAS, one such outstanding organization is the Pigeon Forge Police Department 
and Police Chief Richard Catlett, winners of the Tennessee Municipal League's prestigious 
Excellence in Police Services Award; and 
WHEREAS, the Pigeon Forge Police Department protects a community of some 6,200 
permanent residents, and ensures the safety of more than ten times as many visitors on most 
days; and 
WHEREAS, Pigeon Forge hosts an estimated 14 million visitors each year, including 
those who come to enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollywood, and many 
other attractions; and 
WHEREAS, with unwavering commitment to duty, the Pigeon Forge Police Department 
manages safety and traffic during countless events each year; and 
WHEREAS, the members of the Pigeon Forge Police Department have contributed 
greatly to the safety of the citizens of Pigeon Forge and its visitors, serving with tremendous 
courage, fortitude, and professionalism and making a significant impact for the betterment of 
their community; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Police Chief Richard Catlett, a Pigeon Forge native, 
the police department recently received its second Law Enforcement Accreditation Award from 
the Tennessee Association of Police Chiefs; and 
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we specially recognize the members of the Pigeon 
Forge Police Department for their professional devotion and steadfast commitment to protecting 
and serving their community while upholding the law and preserving the peace; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBL Y OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we congratulate and applaud Police Chief Richard Catlett and the Pigeon 
Forge Police Department on winning the Excellence in Police Services Award from the 
Tennessee Municipal League and extend our gratitude for the department's steadfast service to 
the law and the citizens and visitors of Pigeon Forge. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
