13 | 13 | | occasion of his retirement. |

15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we should honor those citizens who have performed |
---|
16 | 16 | | with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their years of public service; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dan Long of Lincoln County is one such estimable person, who evinces the |
---|
18 | 18 | | greatest integrity and probity in all his chosen endeavors; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, having served with distinction for twenty-two years on the Lincoln County |
---|
20 | 20 | | Election Commission, Mr. Long is taking his well-deserved retirement from that august body; |
---|
21 | 21 | | and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, he began his esteemed tenure with the Lincoln County Election |
---|
23 | 23 | | Commission as a poll official and later became a voting machine technician; his involvement |
---|
24 | 24 | | continued to grow and evolve over the years, with him ultimately serving as chairman of the |
---|
25 | 25 | | commission; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Long's devotion to State election laws has undoubtedly contributed to |
---|
27 | 27 | | the faithful execution of countless Lincoln County elections over the years and to the |
---|
28 | 28 | | commission's status as an exemplar for others across the Volunteer State; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, always ahead of the curve with regard to ever-evolving technology, Dan |
---|
30 | 30 | | Long was a mentor to new members and a true leader within the Lincoln County Election |
---|
31 | 31 | | County Commission, earning the respect of his colleagues across all parties and perspectives; |
---|
32 | 32 | | and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, a native and lifelong resident of Waynesboro, Dan Long graduated from |
---|
34 | 34 | | Waynesboro High School and thereafter went to work at Western Electric from 1961 to 1997, |
---|
35 | 35 | | retiring after thirty-six years of astute service; and |
---|

40 | 40 | | WHEREAS, after his retirement from Western Electric, he began building his family |

41 | 41 | | home in Lincoln County; the substantial project began in 1998, and his family moved into the |

43 | 43 | | WHEREAS, he has also served his community as a member of the Fayetteville Elks |
---|
44 | 44 | | Lodge, of which he is a past Exalted Ruler; and |
---|
45 | 45 | | WHEREAS, throughout his many worthy endeavors, Mr. Long has been blessed with the |
---|
46 | 46 | | love and support of his wife of fifty-eight years, Barbara Snow Long; daughters, Suzanne and |
---|
47 | 47 | | Dane; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and |
---|
48 | 48 | | WHEREAS, Dan Long exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to family and community that |
---|
49 | 49 | | are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and |
---|
50 | 50 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Long is wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that |
---|
51 | 51 | | have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State, and he should be specially |
---|
52 | 52 | | recognized; now, therefore, |

53 | 53 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED |

54 | 54 | | FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE |

55 | 55 | | CONCURRING, that we commend Dan Long for his honorable and astute service to the good |

56 | 56 | | people of Tennessee throughout his twenty-two-year tenure with the Lincoln County Election |

57 | 57 | | Commission and extend to him our heartfelt wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement and |
---|
58 | 58 | | every continued success in his future endeavors. |
