1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Robert Cooke Irwin of
1313 Knoxville.

1515 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
1616 the passing of Robert Cooke "Bob" Irwin; and
1717 WHEREAS, Bob Irwin was a beloved friend and neighbor who did his utmost to improve
1818 the well-being of all who were blessed to know him; and
1919 WHEREAS, born on May 13, 1951, in Knoxville, Mr. Irwin was the son of Gordon and
2020 Cookie Irwin; he graduated from Seymour High School in 1969; and
2121 WHEREAS, a man of many passions, Bob Irwin was an avid golfer, camper, and
2222 University of Tennessee Volunteers fan; and
2323 WHEREAS, Mr. Irwin had a way with words and was renowned among his family and
2424 friends for being a gifted storyteller; and
2525 WHEREAS, he was also deeply devoted to his family and always endeavored to remain
2626 true to family values of the highest order; and
2727 WHEREAS, Mr. Irwin is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Brenda Irwin; brother,
2828 Thomas Irwin; daughters, Heidi (Larry) Householder and Holli (Marques) Williams;
2929 stepdaughter, Denise Shockley; grandchildren, Taylor Swaney, Chase Ingle, Kingston Williams,
3030 Colbi Mitchell, Kiley Mitchell, and Kinsley Caris; great-granddaughter, Huntleigh Swaney; and a
3131 host of cousins and friends; and
3232 WHEREAS, throughout his many worthy endeavors, Bob Irwin distinguished himself as
3333 a beacon of kindness and wisdom; and
3434 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should pay tribute to the bountiful life of this exceptional
3535 Tennessean; now, therefore,

4040 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4141 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4242 CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Robert Cooke "Bob" Irwin, reflecting fondly upon
4343 his ability to live the examined life with courage and conviction.
4444 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we extend our sympathy and condolences to the
4545 family and friends of Mr. Irwin.
4646 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
4747 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
4848 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
4949 without House or Senate designation.
