14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, it was with great sadness that the members of this General Assembly |

15 | 15 | | learned of the untimely death of Sarah Lee Best; and |

16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, a native of Clarksville, Ms. Best was an attorney with Wilkinson Stekloff Law |

17 | 17 | | Firm in Washington, D.C.; and |

18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, a gifted and dedicated student, Sarah Best graduated summa cum laude |
---|
19 | 19 | | with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience and Classical Languages from Vanderbilt |

20 | 20 | | University in 2013; and |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, she then taught high school math and worked as an instructional coach in |

22 | 22 | | her native Tennessee before entering law school; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Best graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania |

24 | 24 | | Law School, where her former professors praise her as a brilliant student and a beloved |

25 | 25 | | member of the school's community; and |

26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, during her tenure in law school, Sarah Best was a senior editor of the |

27 | 27 | | University of Pennsylvania Law Review, served on the board of Penn's Asian Pacific American |

28 | 28 | | Law Student Association, interned for the U.S. Department of Education's Office of the General |
---|
29 | 29 | | Counsel, completed an externship with the Education Law Center, and worked in the |

30 | 30 | | Transnational Legal Clinic, where she represented clients seeking asylum; and |

31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, she also was inducted into the Order of the Coif, received the David Werner |

32 | 32 | | Amram Prize and the Exceptional Pro Bono Service Award, and was named the Edwin R. |

41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Best will be fondly remembered as "a brilliant, kind, and compassionate |

42 | 42 | | soul who touched the lives of so many," and her memory will be treasured by the loved ones |

43 | 43 | | and colleagues she has left behind; and |

44 | 44 | | WHEREAS, Sarah Best brought light into many lives during her all-too-brief time on |

45 | 45 | | earth, and her passing gives credence to the adage that only the best are taken from us at an |
