1212 A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Hanes Torbett to
1313 the fish and wildlife commission.

1515 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 70-1-201, provides for the creation of
1616 the fish and wildlife commission; and
1717 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 70-1-201(a), further provides that the
1818 governor shall appoint nine (9) members to the commission; and
1919 WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Hanes Torbett to serve on the fish and
2020 wildlife commission; subject to confirmation, Mr. Torbett will serve a term that expires on
2121 February 28, 2030; and
2222 WHEREAS, Hanes Torbett is one of the most successful insurance brokers in
2323 Tennessee, providing financial services, employee benefits consulting, and brokerage services
2424 to his clients; and
2525 WHEREAS, committed to helping families achieve financial security, Mr. Torbett also
2626 works as a broker for employers on benefit plan design, healthcare data analysis, and the use of
2727 technology in insurance and employee benefits; and
2828 WHEREAS, he has been honored with the 2021 President's Inner Circle qualification,
2929 George B. Pearson Sales Leadership Award, and Wall of Fame Award with Ohio National Life
3030 Insurance Company; and
3131 WHEREAS, Mr. Torbett currently serves his fellow citizens on the Tennessee sports
3232 wagering council and is a former member of the Tennessee historical commission; and
3333 WHEREAS, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Relations from the
3434 University of North Carolina; and

3939 WHEREAS, Mr. Torbett is an avid sportsman, hunter, and outdoorsman who is well-
4040 informed on the subject of the conservation of game animals, birds, and fish in the state; and
4141 WHEREAS, Mr. Torbett's experience and dedication to wildlife and conservation issues
4242 will be a tremendous asset to the fish and wildlife commission; and
4343 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 70-1-201(b)(1), provides that the
4444 members appointed to the fish and wildlife commission by the governor shall be confirmed by
4545 the committee of the house of representatives having jurisdiction over such matter and the
4646 energy, agricultural and natural resources committee of the senate and by joint resolution of the
4747 general assembly; now, therefore,
4848 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIV ES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4949 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
5050 CONCURRING, that we confirm the appointment of Hanes Torbett to a term on the fish and
5151 wildlife commission, such term to expire on February 28, 2030.
