12	12	A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Phillip Fulmer to
13	13	the board of directors of the Tennessee
14	14	education lottery corporation.

16	16	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-51-101, provides for the creation of
17	17	the Tennessee education lottery corporation; and
18	18	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-51-103, provides that the governor
19	19	shall appoint seven members to the board of directors of the Tennessee education lottery
20	20	corporation; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Phillip Fulmer to serve as a member of the
22	22	board of directors of the Tennessee education lottery corporation for a term that will expire on
23	23	June 30, 2027; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Phillip "Phil" Fulmer, Sr., is a former football player, football coach, athletic
25	25	director, and special advisor to the president at the University of Tennessee; and
26	26	WHEREAS, Phillip Fulmer served as head coach of the University of Tennessee football
27	27	team from 1992-2008, compiling a 152-52 record and leading the Volunteers to a national
28	28	championship, two conference titles, and seven divisional crowns; and
29	29	WHEREAS, truly an icon of the Volunteer State, Coach Fulmer was inducted into the
30	30	College Football Hall of Fame in 2012; and
31	31	WHEREAS, Coach Fulmer has served as the national spokesperson for the Jason
32	32	Foundation, Inc., an organization dedicated to the prevention of youth suicide through
33	33	educational and awareness programs for at-risk youth; and
34	34	WHEREAS, he currently serves as chair of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame board of
35	35	directors; and

40	40	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-51-103(f), provides that each
41	41	member appointed by the governor to the board of directors of the Tennessee education lottery
42	42	corporation shall be confirmed by joint resolution of the general assembly; now, therefore,
43	43	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
44	44	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
45	45	CONCURRING, that we confirm the appointment of Phillip Fulmer to the board of directors of
46	46	the Tennessee education lottery corporation for a term that will expire on June 30, 2027.
