| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-201, provides for the governance |

| 18 | 18 | | of the University of Tennessee by the board of trustees; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-202, provides that the governor |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | shall appoint ten members to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed John Compton to the board of trustees of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the University of Tennessee for a term that expires June 30, 2030; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mr. Compton is the former chief |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | executive officer of PepsiCo Americas Foods; he also served as the chief executive officer of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Pilot Flying J and has served as an advisor to Pilot Flying J, the Haslam family, and the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Cleveland Browns; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, in 2013, he joined a New York private equity firm, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | as an operating advisor; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Compton brings valuable experience and knowledge to the board of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | trustees; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-202, provides that each member |

| 32 | 32 | | appointed by the governor to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee shall be |
