1212 A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Terence Patterson
1313 to the Public Charter School Commission.

1515 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105, provides for the creation of
1616 the Public Charter School Commission; and
1717 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105(b)(1)(A), provides that the
1818 commission be composed of nine members appointed by the governor; and
1919 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105(c)(3), provides that at least
2020 three members from each grand division of the state must serve on the commission; and
2121 WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee, acting pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section
2222 49-13-105, has appointed Terence Patterson as a member of the Public Charter School
2323 Commission representing West Tennessee for a term that will expire on June 30, 2029; and
2424 WHEREAS, Terence Patterson is the chief executive officer of the Memphis Education
2525 Fund and the former chief executive officer of the Downtown Memphis Commission; and
2626 WHEREAS, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Harvard University
2727 and Master of Business Administration and law degrees from Northwestern University; and
2828 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105(b)(1)(A), provides that
2929 each appointed member shall be confirmed by joint resolution of the General Assembly; now,
3030 therefore,
3131 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
3232 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
3333 CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of Terence Patterson to the Public
3434 Charter School Commission for a term that will expire on June 30, 2029.
