<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 185 By Lamberth HJR0185 003244 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Thomas D. Lehrman to the Public Charter School Commission. WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105, provides for the creation of the Public Charter School Commission; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105(b)(1)(A), provides that the commission be composed of nine members appointed by the governor; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105(c)(3), provides that at least three members from each grand division of the State shall serve on the commission; and WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee, acting pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105, has appointed Thomas D. Lehrman as a member of the Public Charter School Commission representing Middle Tennessee for a term that will expire on June 30, 2029; and WHEREAS, Thomas Lehrman is the managing partner of Teamworthy Ventures and the former co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Gerson Lehrman Group; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lehrman is a graduate of Duke University and Yale Law School and served as a director of the Office of WMD Terrorism at the U.S. Department of State and as a member of the professional staff on the President's WMD Commission; and WHEREAS, he has a long history of board service at private and charter schools in New York, having served on the boards of KIPP NYC Public Charter Schools, Brooklyn Excelsior Charter School, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and his alma mater, The Buckley School; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-13-105(b)(1)(A), provides that each appointed member shall be confirmed by joint resolution of the general assembly; now, therefore, - 2 - 003244 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we confirm the appointment of Thomas D. Lehrman to the Public Charter School Commission for a term that will expire on June 30, 2029.
